Short strings of staked globes that sit close to the ground, so the light runs along a border or a path edge rather than up in the air. Each set has its own solar panel on a spike — no wiring between sets, no outdoor socket.
A low line of light along the bed
Six shapes — bubble globe in 2.3 cm or 3.5 cm, mushroom, star, moon and an oval globe
Three run lengths — 3.5 m with 10 lights, 5 m with 20, or 6 m with 30
Warm white or multicolor — warm white for planting beds, multicolor for a brighter path
Solar panel on its own stake — place it in open sun and the string switches on at dusk
Ground stakes fitted — each globe has its own spike, so the run follows a curve instead of standing rigid
Laying them out
Plan the line first — a string that follows a planting edge reads better than a straight one.
Push each stake in to the same depth so the globes sit level.
Put the panel where it gets sun all day, not under the shrubs it lights.
Charge for a full day before judging brightness.
Good to know
Longer runs use a bigger panel; 6 m strings are the brightest of the three.
The 3.5 cm bubble globe is noticeably larger than the 2.3 cm version.
Output falls off in heavy shade or over very short winter days.
Bring the panel in for storage; the stakes can stay out.
